Galway

Galway has an oceanic climate — mild, wet, and windy year-round. The Atlantic completely dominates the weather: "four seasons in one day" is not a cliché but a literal description of west Ireland. Lisbon

Lisbon has a Mediterranean climate with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers. The city enjoys more sunshine than almost any other European capital, making it a year-round destination.

Galway

Galway city centre is very walkable — from Eyre Square to the Spanish Arch is 10 minutes on foot. For Connemara, Aran Islands, and the Burren, car hire or organized day tours are necessary. Bus Éireann serves some Connemara routes.

Lisbon

Walkability: The city center is walkable but extremely hilly. Comfortable shoes are essential. The flat riverside promenade from Cais do Sodre to Belem is great on foot or by rented e-scooter. Funiculars (Bica, Gloria, Lavra) help with the steepest hills.
