Flores has a tropical monsoon climate with two pronounced seasons — dry from April to October and wet from November to March. Coastal Labuan Bajo is hot and humid year-round (28-32°C); the Bajawa, Ruteng and Moni highlands run 5-8°C cooler and can drop to 12°C overnight in July-August. The Komodo region is among Indonesia's driest, in the rain shadow of the Lesser Sunda chain.
Lombok
Lombok has a tropical climate with a dry season and a wet season. The dry season (May-October) is the best time to visit for trekking, diving, and beach activities.

Flores
Flores has no trains and very limited public buses — getting around the island means either hiring a driver-and-car for the Trans-Flores highway, renting a scooter for Labuan Bajo and short hops, or flying the Wings Air island hops. In Labuan Bajo and Maumere, Grab and Gojek work but coverage drops to zero in the highland villages.
Walkability: Labuan Bajo town is a 10-minute walk end to end along the waterfront strip — most dive shops, restaurants and guesthouses cluster on Jl Soekarno-Hatta. Moni village is a single 500-metre street. Outside these compact centres, walking is impractical due to distances and the lack of footpaths on highway shoulders.
Lombok
Lombok has limited public transport. Most travelers use motorbike rentals, private drivers, or shared minivans. The Gili Islands are car-free with bikes and walking as the main options.
Walkability: Low for Lombok island itself — distances are large and there are no sidewalks. The Gili Islands are highly walkable (Gili Air can be walked around in 1.5 hours).
