Busan

Busan is very safe for travelers. Violent crime is rare and the city is well-policed. The main concerns are petty theft in crowded tourist areas and rip currents at beaches during summer.

Nha Trang

Nha Trang is generally safe for tourists but requires more vigilance than other Vietnamese beach destinations. Petty theft and scams targeting tourists are the main concerns, concentrated on the beach strip and nightlife areas. Violent crime is uncommon but not unheard of on the late-night party strip.

πŸš‡ Getting Around

Busan

Busan has an excellent metro system covering most tourist areas, supplemented by buses and affordable taxis. A T-money card works on all public transport.

Walkability: Moderate β€” beach areas and Nampo-dong are very walkable, but the city is spread out and hilly. Metro + walking is the best combination.

Busan Metro β€” 1,400-1,800 KRW ($1-1.35)
City Buses β€” 1,300 KRW (~$1)
Taxis β€” 3,800-15,000 KRW ($2.80-11)

Nha Trang

Nha Trang is a compact city that's reasonably navigable on foot along the beachfront strip. For trips beyond the center β€” mud baths, Po Nagar, Vinpearl β€” taxis and ride-hailing apps are cheap and convenient. Renting a motorbike gives maximum flexibility for day trips to nearby islands and mountains.

Walkability: Moderate along the Tran Phu beachfront strip. Low for anything off the main tourist corridor β€” attractions are scattered across a 10 km radius. The city's layout is not pedestrian-friendly beyond the beach promenade.

Taxi & Grab (Ride-Hailing) β€” 15,000–50,000 VND ($0.60–2 USD) for most city trips
Motorbike / Scooter Rental β€” 120,000–200,000 VND/day ($5–8 USD)
Island Ferries β€” 50,000–350,000 VND ($2–14 USD) depending on island

Choose Nha Trang if...

you want Vietnam's beach capital β€” island hopping, snorkeling at Hon Mun, mud baths, fresh seafood at market prices, and a Cham tower UNESCO site on your doorstep
