A car is the most practical way to explore Banff, especially for the Icefields Parkway, Bow Valley Parkway, and reaching trailheads. Moraine Lake requires a Parks Canada shuttle (no private vehicles) from 2023 onward.
Walkability: Banff townsite is compact and easily walkable with restaurants, shops, and the Banff Gondola base within walking distance. The Bow River trail system offers pleasant riverside walks.
